Our History

As leaders in their respective fields, Maria Tchan and Allison Salmon wanted to create an innovative, for-purpose enterprise that addresses complex problems and supports social sector organisations to show their impact and create change.

They established The Centre of Impact & Change driven by a shared vision to put people and evidence at the centre of their work.

"We both knew we have the energy and expertise to dive in and help create a social sector that listens to community needs and rolls-out evidence-informed services when and where they are needed, and to measure what matters". - Allison, Director of Change.

Drawing on their combined networks, Maria and Allison have curated a team of diverse and talented leads in Research and Evaluation, Evidence Translation, Digital Strategy and Data Analytics, Finance and Impact Measurement, Learning and Development, plus Design and Communication. Each collaborating partner brings a unique perspective and repertoire of skills.

“The Centre's work is all about combining careful research with real-life experiences to better understand complex challenges and define impact. We do this to improve practical use in the real world and improve the delivery of services to community”. - Maria, Director of Impact.

Our People

Our Values

We are focused on building our client’s organisational capacity to create meaningful change by generating improvements in their practice, systems, knowledge and relationships.

We partner with organisations and their people to understand and measure the impact of the work they do. We do this by supporting organisations to find and explore the evidence, and to hold meaningful conversations with the people who use and benefit from services.

We put people at the centre

  • We value living and lived experience.

For us, that means actively seeing different points of view, perspectives, experiences, and aspirations from individuals and communities.

We prioritise inclusivity, diversity, and equitable participation, ensuring that our work reflects and respects the needs and voices of all stakeholders.

We foster a collaborative approach, recognizing that complex problems require diverse expertise and collective efforts.

We actively engage with clients, partners, and stakeholders, building strong relationships and co-creating solutions for maximum impact.

Integrity
We work to the highest ethical standards

  • We value working with, and for, those who adhere to strong ethical standards and demonstrate consistency between words, actions, and beliefs.

For us, this means that we set the bar high for ourselves and others

We prioritise fostering trust, transparency, and accountability in our interactions with clients, and stakeholders and collaborators.

We actively adapt our approaches to cultural contexts, ensuring our interventions are respectful, sensitive, and relevant.

Curiosity
We’re creative and actively seek to create something new.

  • We value and embrace new ideas, approaches, and technologies to continuously improve our services and deliver cutting-edge solutions.

For us, this means anticipating and responding to change and supporting organisations to explore new ways of doing things.

We equally prioritise rigor, evidence creativity, experimentation, and learning.

We actively take risks and challenge the status quo.

Sustainability
We promote sustainability in all its dimensions.

  • We value and are committed to promoting sustainability in all its dimensions—environmental, social, and economic.

For use this means keeping a future focus.
