CONSUMER ENGAGEMENT & CODESIGN LEAD, AUSTRALIAN DIGITAL HEALTH AGENCY

Background

The Community Relationships, Digital Inclusion and Community Engagement team conducted a series of co-design workshops with consumers, consumer peak organisations and advisors, to better understand the key themes and identify potential solutions regarding the use and acceptance of digital health technology.

Maria was contracted to support the development of the workshops, and facilitate the sessions.

Participants from diverse and vulnerable population groups were engaged to explore what could increase awareness of the benefits and the practicalities of Electronic Prescriptions and My Health Record to consumers and carers.

The outcome

The workshops explored:

  • Perceptions of digital health technology and trust

  • Barriers to understanding and use

  • Practical opportunities to improve awareness and accessibility

Insights from the workshops identified both short- and long-term, consumer-led solutions. These findings are now being used by the Australian Digital Health Agency to inform internal workplans and strengthen how digital healthcare technologies are designed, communicated, and implemented to better meet consumer needs.
